How sad is it that liberals support Obama when he is so much like Bush?

I don't think he is like Bush. I do think he inherited many situations that required a certain amount of continuity. Most of those situations have evolved into complex mechanism. Colin Powell's "Broken Pot" metaphor applies. If you beak it, its yours. Bush broke a lot of pots.
