What is wrong with my wii headbanger headset?

It works great but a few hours ago the mic seems to have broke, the actual microphone works great (i can talk with great quality) however the sound is crackly in the ear part (idk any other way to describe it) when I plug it in and then when I play online the sound comes from the tv in really bad quality ex. I went to play with a few of my allies in a wager match (black ops) and they could hear me but their voices came out of the tv like my headset wasn't plugged in except in really bad quality and in my mic I hear buzzes and crackles (kinda like a radio with bad reception) there is nothing wrong with the mic visually PLZ HALP MEH!
