What is a Republican?

I'm a republican but I am totally lost in my party's choices in candidates and beliefs. I feel like all I have to do tell a joke is say "I'm a republican" and that's the punchline. I'm not an evangelical Christian, I'm not religious even to the slightest degree. I don't care what gay people do or want to do as long as it's in private and doesn't involve me. Obamacare? Don't care don't care, I hate the insurance industry and would greatly enjoy watching it squirm for once. I believe in evolution, global warming has occurred before it's not new and I believe in legalizing medical marijuana. Ron Paul seems to make sense to me but everyone says he's whacko. I believe in fiscal responsibility and business opportunity for everyone. I live science and privately funded research and development. I dislike taxes, bailouts and liberal whining, but every time I speak to another republican nowadays, I get accused of being liberal!

Depending on the scale you like (small battles vs big campaigns) I would recommend Richard Borg's games starting with Battle Cry (American Civil War) and running through the Command and Conquer series from GMT Games (a heavier war game series) and Memoir '44. My friend tried to commit suicide?

My best friend's suffered from depression since middle school. She's always been inconsistent with therapy and medications, it's gotten to the point where she refuses help altogether. my pregnant Dalmation molly, cannot swim at all.We've kept her in a breeding tank recently and she didn't push out any babies, when we tried to take her out of the breeding tank she jumped to the other side of it,then we tried to take her out again with the net and we got her and put her with the rest of the fish in the tank. She seemed to be fine after wards,she was swimming all around the tank and one of our male fishes even started to sniff her butt. But this morning now i didn't see her in the tank. But then I noticed that one of my other female fish was picking at something behind our aquarium skull.It was the pregnant fish that i was looking for,she couldn't move, she wasn't completely upside down but she was slanted, it seems as if her tail is broken,she cant move it at all.we tried to like push her down the correct way with the net but she just floats right back up.she is still breathing at the moment but she didn't eat(evident ally because she cant get up straight) but shes still moving her fins and opening and closing her mouth. She is now back in the breeding tank away from other fish and we put some stress coat in there.But if she really were pregnant, shouldn't she be laying down because she has more weight because of the the babies??But i really have no clue what to do at this moment someone please help.

I think they should but not before the districts get rid of all the wasteful programs. Public education is treated as daycare for most and taken for granted by absent parents. Why should teachers have to be parents in the classroom? The school boards she be held more accountable than they are as well. They screw up the budgets by implementing programs we cant afford and when the crap hits the fan, its the teachers and other staff that are let go first. With all this said and despite all the screw ups, American school districts should be given a bailout based on this one major fact: The government gave bailouts to the failing banks and businesses because they were "too big to fail". Sure, if the United States wanted to face tens of thousands of deaths most communist nations (other than China) could be invaded. Then what? The United States cannot police the world. Have you heard that we are out of money and also the populace is very "war weary." No, you cannot look at the world in the simplistic terms you have outlined in your question as though this was a game of "Risk" and you are moving pieces around the board of the world. The world is an evil place. Governments are repressive and corrupt. Millions of human beings are suffering. All of this is true. Now what?

But, has Obama tried to do any of these things? NO! He is just following Bush's footsteps of fiscal irresponsibility! Like Bush, Obama has started another war in Libya, while continuing the present war in Iraq, has spent just as much, if not more, than his predecessor, has supported more bailouts and stimulus bills, and has no intention whatsoever of making any spending cuts! So, why do Obama supporters continue to make excuses for him on the grounds of "It's all Bush's fault", when Obama is just another Bush?

Anything is possible because this is a world wide situation, but doing nothing would be much worse. While we may have more unemployment for a few more years, by next year most of the debt will have washed out of the system. Most industries will be better grounded with less debt and given even a slightly better business climate coupled with more tax increment most people will be in a better financial position. Don't forget....90% of Americans are officially working. Before this recession 95% were 'officially' working. While that not a good statistic, it beats the stats of most other countries. Without the bailouts the banks would have failed. Of course we could have established a debt free 'national bank' system, but that would have been 'socialism'..I doubt if the Bush administration would have dared to even suggest that. Bailing out the auto industry saved that industry and most of that cash has been paid back ahead of time. Extended unemployment insurance has kept millions of Americans from becoming street people and has kept a considerable amount of cash circulating in what would have been a massively depressed cash situation. A market economy can't function without cash, credit and production....cash infusion via 'The Stimulus' has prevented a total shut off of all three. The policies of this administration have given us some breathing room...nobody can deny that. The polices admittedly were the 'best of the worst', but again, 'doing nothing' would have been the worst possible thing to do. Could there be a double dip coming? Possible, but it won't be worse than the one that currently has found it's bottom. 'Melt-Down #2 could happen, but chances are it won't work out that way. If it does and the GOP/Teabag/Fox 'News'/Jesus Freak Party is in charge chances are they will 'do nothing'...then we'll see how that will work out.

Because American businesses and workers are extremely productive, and produce far more value than is the case with any 3rd world country, by light years. And a bad employment situation for us means that 9% or 10% of people are unemployed, as opposed to the 75% unemployment you might see in a 3rd world country. Stupid fiscal and political policies could certainly degrade things over time, but they can't quickly change the fundamental productive nature of the economy for 310 million people, not any more than you can stop a runaway freight train on a dime.
