Spinoff of Hor's question...are stoners allowed to be open about it in CA?

Just several years ago I was traveling and ended up staying in northern CA for 3 months. I was bartending at a place in Folsom and was breezing through the community ads and I saw so many advertisements for "medicinal" marijuana. for a girl from slightly conservative Ohio I got a real kick out of that. Seemed everyone I knew or met talked about doing it casually. Its like this even more so in San Diego. not sure about gross *** LA. wasn't really interested in hanging out there long enough to find out.
