Pirates of the Caribbean, Stranger Tides Question (*SPOILER*)?

I think he became immortal or smth like she. As you have already said, Scrum or other pirate mate on boat (before mermaids arrived) told others that kiss from mermaid would save you from drowning...so I guess that Phillip and Syrene live now happily, she didn't "do that" and ate him. :)
