How do I get an iPhone 4 for $250 or under without an upgrade?

I want to get an iPhone 4 with Verizon, because in December I bought an LG Ally & it's just complete crap. It's slow & turns off & has a super short battery life. The thing is I don't have an upgrade until November, but I want to get a new phone now. At Verizon you can get a refurbished phone for $150, but that's with an upgrade. & you can get a brand new one(16gb) for $200, but only with an upgrade. I was just wondering if anyone knew of anything I could do to not have to pay $700 for a PHONE. Thanks.
